Pre-mastering (commonly called mastering) is
the technical/creative process performed
on the tracks of an album or a single, so as to emphasize and enhance its sound
quality
and musical content. Pre-mastering is, of course, the final stage in the
production of a
song (or an album). Our work is not finished when the last creative and
technical decision
has been taken, but only when the audio material has been uploaded on our server
as an
error-free file. All our digital processors (equalizers, compressors, audio
processors) and
all our digital workstations have a resolution of at least 24 bit, and often of
32, 48 and
128 bit, higher than that of ordinary audio CDs and in some cases higher than
that of the
future audio DVDs. Only by operating at the highest digital processing
resolutions is it
possible to obtain the kind of control and precision required to perform
pre-mastering
operations without any deterioration in the original sound quality.
Dithering and downsampling: there are various techniques and different
algorithms for
performing these operations, to ensure that the quality of detail and depth of
sound
image of a high-resolution recording are captured in the audio CD version.
For pre-mastering, we accept audio files in the following formats:
WAV / AIFF / SDII - 16 / 20 / 24 / 32 bit - 44.1 / 48 / 88.2 / 96 / 192 KHz
Check the volume peak level of these ones, it
should not go over -1dB, switch off any
equalizers, compressors,
soft-clippers, limiters on the master stereo out of your mixer.
We can produce the following stereo file formats:
PCM audio files ( WAV / AIFF / SDII - 16 to 24 bit - 44.1 to 96 KHz )
Monitors: Yamaha NS-10M STUDIO and EVENT
Studio Precision 8 (biamplified direct field)
Headphones (reference class): Beyerdynamic DT 880 PRO
Converters: Apogee electronics 192 kHz 24 bit
